CIBO Wine Bar - King St W
It was an abnormally warm Sunday afternoon and I was in the mood for some delicious Italian eats. Cibo Wine Bar is a popular hotspot that had caught my attention on numerous occasions. Tonight was going to be the night that I indulged my curiosity, spirit and palate.
Now I was faced with the task of determining what would be the strain of the evening and the perfect pairing for my meal. I reviewed the menu, which is fabulous by the way, in advance to determine what I was in the mood for. I felt like it was a pasta kind of night and a couple of items had piqued my interest. With that in mind, I reviewed my cannabis strains on hand and determined that Shipwreck would be the perfect pairing.
Shipwreck is a sativa strain, vaunted for its potency, characteristic of its lineage as a cross between Trainwreck and Mothership. This strain is great as it provides a mellow and uplifting feeling, while offering a slight body buzz to really have me sitting in the pocket and feeling great.
The beautiful nugs of Shipwreck were glistening in the light and had some breathtaking crystals on the bud. As I broke the cannabis up in preparation for rolling, I was overwhelmed by a delectable odour of spicy and earthy undertones.
I headed to the restaurant and enjoyed some “fresh air” as I walked to the Cibo Wine Bar. Upon arrival I was feeling fantastic and walked into the establishment. I was greeted and seated by the waitress at a table that was in the centre of the restaurant and near the glass encased wine room. It was early in the evening, so the restaurant had just begun serving the full dinner menu, and there was a handful of tables enjoying food and wine. The room was dimly lit, but had a fun hazy vibe. I felt comfortable and excited to partake in a delicious meal as my hunger grew.
I ordered the Oriechette with rapini and Italian sausage. Wow………this dish was elegantly presented and tasted great! The Shipwreck was the perfect pairing and really brought out the delicious spicy taste of the Italian sausage and accompanying herbs and spices. Rapini has a very distinct taste, but I loved every bite and savoured every moment.
I really enjoyed my experience at Cibo Wine Bar and it lived up to the high expectations that I had. The restaurant had a chill vibe and the food was great. Shipwreck was the perfect pairing and an awesome treat.
