Re-Up DTHBBB Strain Review (15g) - Zenabis
As the pandemic and lockdown continues to drag on, I needed some affordably priced cannabis to smoke and keep me feeling good through these challenging times. With the spring on the not so distant horizon, I figured I would revisit Re-Up’s (REUP) DTHBBB, which is a strain I had tried earlier in 2020 and wanted to take another pass at. For me personally, it is very important to smoke a good quantity of a product to really develop my thoughts, feelings and overall perspective on an offering.
Zenabis is the Canadian LP, Licensed Producer, that owns and operates the Re-Up brand, which focuses on providing high quality flower at a low cost price point. Did they live up to their promise and value proposition? I ordered this product off Cannabis by Shopper Drug Mart, but it can also be purchased via recreational channels in Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Quebec,Saskatchewan, Yukon and Ontario. On Shopper’s, I was able to procure this fine product for $4/g before tax, which came to $67.80 including HST and delivered to my doorstep.
Tale of the Tape:
Brand: Re-Up
Product: DTHBBB
20% THC, Indica Dominant Hybrid
Pack Size: 15g (half oz)
Packaged On: August 10, 2020 by Zenabis Ltd
Bag Appeal
I was very happy to see the container packed with big and dense nugs. This is the definition of bag appeal (for a value product anyway) when I find multiple nugs that are huge, one was even the size of my palm. When I squished the nugs between my fingers, the cannabis would spring back. Additionally, the nugs had some stickiness and when I broke apart a nug, it still held together relatively well.
Visually, the cannabis was a nice green with some orange hairs covering the nugs. The trichomes looked more stalk than head, but they did have some decent trichome coverage. The cannabis was lacking that trichome glimmer and frostiness, but again since this is a value offering I will say it was solid.
The container is the standard size plastic container, and as always Shopper’s Drug Mart provides a Boveda pack to keep your product fresh and terpy. Those buying recreationally will need to add a Boveda or Integra pack to keep the product fresh, but the cannabis I received was in relatively good shape with a respectable moisture and humidity levels. The aroma from this container was not overly strong, but the cannabis had a nice earthy and piney smell, with a hint of sweetness. The smell was decent, but waning and underwhelming.
Overall Experience
I smoked on this over the course of a week, while performing my regular day to day tasks, spanning work, social and relaxation time. Maybe it was the price, or maybe it is my mood and the time of year, but I just wanted to keep chain smoking joints of this cannabis lol. Regardless, the cannabis smokes well and kept me wanting more. The high was mild and very functional, but I was motivated and taking care of business. This reminded me of the CITRQ (by Re-Up) that I also smoked last year, as it was a great strain, but I always felt very functional and just kept wanting to smoke more and go about my day.
I do think there is a good value proposition here as it is well priced and has a delightful little kick to it. The potency isn’t that strong, but it was preferred for my intended use. I am planning to order some of the MKLTR and CITRQ by Re-Up to contrast and compare to those offerings.
Final Thoughts
I am intrigued by this and I might “Re-Up” at this price point. I am hoping to see more of the value offerings compete with this price point and product offering (lots of other value offerings are dry, sawdust like and just non-starters for me).
As always, BLAZE IT UP and keep it highbrow………….
