Fireside Cannabis – Red Review
I said I wasn’t going to do a review on them in a previous post, but I’m walking that back, as I thought “it’s 2019, New Year, New Me!” I am going to be reviewing Red by Fireside Cannabis(not the legendary album by Taylor Swift). Red is their medium THC strain(Spoetnik) and is priced at $13.15 on the OCS store. Since this is priced $13+/g, I am expecting a more premium experience as I begin to inspect and test the flower. It is a snow day today, so I am in need of a potent indica smoke.
Spoetnik – Indica
The Strain Explained:
Spoetnik is named for the CCCP satellite sent into space in 1957. While the full genetic cross remains a mystery, this plant exhibits strong Afghani traits, including rich, dark buds that have an earthy aroma intermixed with subtle fruitiness.
-Leafly, 2019
First Impressions:
The packaging is unique and different compared to a lot of the other current legal products. The box is a little fancier, and the cannabis is contained in what I call the “film style” plastic container. The plastic container opens easily, a must for high people, and I was able to do it on the first attempt! Additionally, the product still maintained its aroma and had a nice sweet flowery smell.
Unfortunately, this is where the criticism starts. While the bud looked decent, with orange hairs and some white crystals, it was incredibly dry. When I went to roll a joint, the bud would disintegrate into dust with the slightest rubbing of your fingers together.
The high felt pretty mild and I smoked the 1 gram in a sitting. It got me high, but it didn’t leave a lasting impression and elevate my experience.
My Take:
While I enjoyed the Fireside Lodge, I cannot say the same about Red by Fireside Cannabis. The presentation was clean, but the product was too dry and at $13 per gram it felt like overpriced mids.
Since it is February and in the middle of a long Canadian winter, I wish I was sitting Fireside and high......
