Acreage Pharms – APL Black Badder Review and Thoughts

I’ve been a badder boy………..

As 2020 has progressed, the number of product offerings in the concentrates and extracts category continues to expand.  Whether you are seeking solventless concentrates (bubble hash, flower rosin, hash rosin, or live rosin) or your BHO consistency of choice (shatter, badder, caviar etc.), most retail stores will have at least one option available for purchase.  Each product and consistency has its pros and cons, but some of the criteria I like to evaluate is:

1.     Packaging

2.     Appearance and Smell

3.     Ease of Dosing

4.     Taste and Flavor

5.     The High

6.     Overall Experience

Today, I had the pleasure of smoking APL Black Badder.  As a long time concentrate enthusiast, I had my phase where I was really into shatter, badder, caviar and pretty much any BHO extract that I could get my hands on to smoke.  The excitement to try this product was bringing me back to the first time I smoked shatter.  Coincidentally, badder and caviar are two of my preferred textures and consistencies as they are easy to handle and evenly does, while also providing that dabbable goodness I have come to expect.

 Bag Appeal

The packaging for this product is very basic.  It has the classic childproof pouch design and a small piece of parchment paper containing the product.  It is a less than impressive packaging solution, but it gets the job done.

The product had brown sugary texture and a slight fragrance of fruity notes.  The product was very easy to handle and portion as I prepared my dabs.  The taste and flavor was smooth, with an initial punch, but not much depth or follow-through via multiple layers.

The high was solid, with a strong body buzz and that distinct concentrate alertness and post smoke sharpness.  This resin delivered on the high, but it felt flat and lacked in overall personality. I also was not impressed with the colour. Badders are generally darker as they have been whipped and mixed to achieve the badder consistency. Nonetheless, I was hoping it would present slightly better and have a nicer colour under the light.

Overall Experience

I enjoyed the APL Black badder by Acreage Pharms.  It is a good value, and a decent smoke.  It is nothing spectacular, but it is a solid offering.  They could improve on their packaging and overall appeal to elevate this product and offer a clear differentiator.

In summary, I will smoke purchase more and revisit my initial reaction and assessment.  I am very interested to compare it to other badder and shatter products.

Stay Tuned and Stay High!

And always keep it highbrow……..
